The Gambia’s marble-and-drum ballot
You need a Gambian voter’s card, your name on the register, and to go to the right polling station. Check your registration on the IEC “Am I registered?” page.
Polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. If you are in the queue at 5 p.m., you can still vote. Show your voter’s card, an official checks it against the register, and your left forefinger is marked with indelible ink. You are then given a marble or token, which you drop into the drum of your chosen candidate inside the voting compartment.
