“As the outgoing Speaker of the House I hope to put my years of experience to work on behalf of one of the largest and most diverse senate districts in the country. I'm under no illusions that myself or anyone else can come in and fill the void left by Lyman Hoffman's departure. But I'm confident I can secure an influential position in the senate with my service in the House for the past two decades.”
(Alaska Division of Elections Official Election Pamphlet) “I want to continue working to fund our schools, maintain PCE benefits, protect our subsistence rights, strengthen public safety by getting more VPSO's into our communities, and help lower the high cost of energy and fuel that continues to take an enormous toll on families and businesses in rural Alaska. I will always be a fish-first legislator.”
(Alaska Division of Elections Official Election Pamphlet) “Our district is blessed with tremendous abundance of salmon and other species, but it has also been plagued by low returns in rivers that used to be full of fish. I will continue to work hard to make sure trawlers in the Bering Sea are held accountable, and ADF&G is fully staffed and funded. I'm proud of my track record in the legislature as a fierce defender of rural Alaska.”
