“In 2021, Troy introduced House Bill 1376, which subsequently became Act 57. The legislation helped the State of Hawaii transition away from our eviction moratorium that was put into place to keep families housed because of the impacts of the pandemic. Mediation between tenant and landlords was central to the legislation and created an organized timeline for the moratorium to be phased out as federal rental relief was disseminated.”

He is a 2021 graduate of the prestigious Council of State Government’s – West, Western Leadership Academy and a 2024 recipient of the Council of State Governments 20 under 40 award.”
(Troy Hashimoto campaign website) “Troy is deeply concerned about quality of life issues facing our families today. Affordable housing is at a tipping point where it is nearly impossible to own a home. Many of the classmates he grew up with have decided that it is too hard to live on Maui or have never returned to the islands from college. They feel there are better opportunities elsewhere. This must change.”
