“Like most Hoosiers, I am concerned about the economy, jobs, education. Like most people in my district, I am concerned about Indiana University and Crane. I decided to run to be your representative at the Statehouse, not to represent Indianapolis, Washington, or big special interests, but to represent you, and to bring everybody into the process: the people in Linton, Bloomfield, Bloomington, Kirksville, Odon and Loogootee.” (Campaign website excerpt via Ballotpedia)
“Indiana has been a Midwest success story in many respects, but Senate District 39's voters have been telling me the economy and taxes are still issues for them.” (Campaign website)
“Indiana needs reform of property taxes and the gasoline tax, which hits twice, both as a fuel tax and as a sales tax. When I was a state representative, we cut taxes overall, from lowering the income tax to 2.9% to cutting the utility tax. We can reform and reduce these taxes, but it has to be done in a way that doesn't bloat the sales tax.” (Campaign website)
