Where Cohen stands

Taxes & spending

The cost of disaster relief, emergency response, and infrastructure repair after extreme weather events gets added to our national debt — the same debt the politicians lecture us about while cutting taxes for billionaires.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am concerned about every issue that impacts my neighbors, other Nebraskans, and my country. I want to return to tax rates more like those both parties supported in the 1950's so large corporations have an incentive to reinvest their profits. I want to protect the integrity of our elections. We must do more to deter foreign interference in our elections. I oppose the global surveillance state that the billionaires seek. I want healthcare for every American, and I will preserve Social Security and Medicare. We must take climate change seriously; it's already impacting Nebraska's farmers and ranchers. I want America to support its allies - not appease Putin. I want a strict code of ethics for the Supreme Court.

Campaign Priorities & Public Service

After leaving active duty I practiced law in Omaha for eight years, including during the farm crisis of the late 1980’s. During that time, I was twice a finalist in the Nebraska Toastmasters State Humorous Speech Contest. I also took graduate courses in philosophy and logic at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I attended the First Unitarian Church in Omaha for twelve years while living in Omaha.
