Infrastructure & transportation: “For 40 years, I was a typical middle-of-the-road York County Republican. I valued limited government, worked hard and expected others to do the same. I supported charitable giving through my church and United Way plus volunteer hours in causes that mattered to me: youth sports, Scouting, public libraries, amateur theatre, and food / hunger support.” (Campaign website)
Taxes & budget: “I watched the Republican Party drift further and further right, ignoring increasing federal budget deficits, and leaning strongly into extreme conservative beliefs that are consistent with Christian nationalism. I left the Republican Party and became Independent (non-affiliated) in 2014. I joined the Democratic Party in 2023 when I was considering a run for office. The plaid-themed campaign reflects my fiscal conservatism (red) with more liberal (blue) views regarding social programs – especially in the areas of housing, healthcare, and food security.” (Campaign website)
Health care: “Through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the federal government has reduced funding for multiple programs: FEMA, SNAP, NPR, Head Start, ACA subsidies and Medicaid. As your legislator, I will work to restore or deliver these benefits through state funding.” (Campaign website)
Elections, voting & government reform: “No Budget, No Pay - I will waive my state salary each day that the state budget is late.” (Campaign website)

About Joe: “Joe loves American history, specifically history of our nation’s founding and of the Civil War era. When not reading the Bible or the News, he’s likely working on an American history book.” (Campaign website)
Housing: “Short term thinking – Americans, and more specifically, Pennsylvanians, have long been negatively affected by decisions that seemed right, and may have bore fruit in the short term, but in the long run they proved ill-conceived and short sighted. Decisions in government cannot prioritize fleeting, temporal gains at the expense of our enduring interests. In other words, future generations are just as important as current ones.” (Campaign website)
Priorities & campaign themes: “The pandemic brought to light a very dangerous reality for Pennsylvanians. Our state government is way too involved in our day to day lives. The horrors of a hyperactive state government in the COVID era cannot be repeated. The government, and its many departments, must be scaled back and made more efficient, and stripped of much of its overreaching authority.” (Campaign website)
Housing: “I hear time and time again about the hurdles, delays, regulations and fees that burden business owners, farmers, and homeowners - all originating with PA's rogue executive departments like DEP and PLCB. These departments must revisit their mission and stop nickel & diming Pennsylvanians.” (Campaign website)
