“I am running because District 28A is a Lakota district comprised of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and I think we should have a representative that reflects Lakota values.”
(SDPB 2026 Meet the Candidates) “I think the State of South Dakota: its various departments of government and its legislative and executive and judicial bodies are too comfortable with Lakota students 8th graders being 27 points behind non-Indian students in state wide reading statistics. It's arguably an apartheid state of South Dakota with tribal people being 80% of the state prisons and only 20% of the state wide population. Reservation counties have been the top two poorest counties in the entire nation since 1980 all of those issues should be a priority.”
(SDPB 2026 Meet the Candidates) “Per capita income across the primary three counties in my district are well below South Dakota's statewide average of $40,550: Dewey County was lowest at $21,560, about 53% of the state figure; Corson County was next at $22,830, about 56% of the state figure; and Ziebach County was highest of the three at $26,885, about 66% of the state figure. All three counties — which together cover most of the Cheyenne River Reservation and the South Dakota portion of Standing Rock — fall far short of the statewide average, with Dewey County trailing the other two despite having the youngest median age among them.”
