What is one part of Vermont’s economy or cost of living that needs greater attention from elected officials?: “Economic fairness by taxing our wealthiest people at a higher rate will alleviate a lot of suffering. We need to tax second homes at a higher rate. School taxes should be based upon income, not the amount of property owned by the taxpayer.”
“Such an approach sounds like a back door way to bring about involuntary consolidations. Tax fairness by sharply reducing the rate for low and moderate income working families and increasing taxes on the very wealthiest among us is much more promising than relying upon the state to set rates, whether uniformly or otherwise.”
“Our public schools are bouncing back from serious problems that took place during the pandemic. Test scores are improving at fourth and eighth grade grade math and literacy as new research based curriculums are implemented.”
