What is one part of Vermont’s economy or cost of living that needs greater attention from elected officials?: “Our agriculture economy needs more attention and support. Our local food producers help to secure our food system and the lack of attention and support for our farmers, especially our dairy farmers put us all at risk and more dependent on corporate agriculture. We are fortunate in Vermont to have access to locally sourced food; we need to do more to support and strengthen this industry.”
“I do not believe in forced district consolidation. The attempts to do are short-sited and don't address the root causes for high school budgets, nor does it address the lack of services and supports are schools are facing. Lastly, as a parent of small child, forced consolidation doesn't address the quality of the education our children are receiving.”
“I do not. District budgets are determined based on several factors, including salaries, benefits, programming, facility needs, etc. Since districts can't negotiate healthcare, they already have control of the 75% of what makes up district budgets. The solution is not the state coming in to decide which programs get cut or which facilities don't get upgrades. The solution is addressing healthcare reform.”

“Costs of our education system are too high for a variety of reasons. I support shifting how we develop school budgets to be more cost-conscious.”
“I support the planned shift towards a foundation formula. This is effective in the majority of other states and will help to reduce educational spending, which has, for a variety of reasons, gotten to be unsustainable as designed.”
