Chea Waters Evans
Chea Waters Evans (Democratic) of Charlotte is an incumbent Vermont Representative representing the Chittenden-5 district in the 2025-2026 General Assembly, and works as Legislator.
What is one part of Vermont’s economy or cost of living that needs greater attention from elected officials?: “We can spend more time and energy on economic development policy that addresses our unique needs as a state. We have the second-smallest population in the country and our resources are spread widely across rural and more urban areas.”
“I sure do. Mandatory mergers don't result in better-educated kids or healthier communities. Allowing individual school districts the time and space to get it right is important for long-term success.”
“I would hold off on supporting a full state school budget until we see how things play out with the district mergers and CESA districts that we only just created. I think a lot of times when we've passed education policy, something scary comes up (like a giant tax increase) and we scramble to "fix" it before we let our other good ideas take shape.”
