What is one part of Vermont’s economy or cost of living that needs greater attention from elected officials?: “When we think about the cost of healthcare, many of us think about our own personal insurance premiums, co pays, and deductibles- but we don't always consider the ways in which we're paying for healthcare when we never see a hospital bill.”
“I am vehemently opposed to forced school consolidation. While we absolutely have a cost problem and declining enrollment, I'm not convinced that a state mandated "one size fits all" consolidation approach will solve any of that.”
“I absolutely do NOT support the state having the power to determine school budgets instead of the local officials who have been elected to do just that. Local school boards should be the ones who determine school budgets as they are the ones who are best positioned to understand the needs of their local schools and communities.”

What is one part of Vermont’s economy or cost of living that needs greater attention from elected officials?: “Vermont has a healthcare crisis that needs to be addressed. We have the most expensive healthcare in the nation and our rural hospitals are not making ends meet. This costly system needs to be taken apart and looked at because it not only affects our healthcare premiums, but also our school and property taxes.”
“I do not support school consolidation. There is no solid evidence that it will be a cost savings to taxpayers and it risks destroying our rural communities. Vermont is a rural state, and schools tend to be centers of those rural communities. These towns don't want to lose their control of decision making about their schools.”
“I do not believe the state should have the power to set budgets. Each area of our state is different. The needs of each area should be defined by the people who live and work in those areas. Local control and decision making needs to be retained.”
