West Virginia State House District 36

Current seat holder: David Green (Republican).

Katelynn Jordan

Katelynn Marie Jordan is the Democratic candidate for West Virginia House of Delegates District 36. Jordan is from Big Sandy in McDowell County and filed as the Democratic candidate for the district in the 2026 election. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and received 515 votes. Jordan will face Republican incumbent David Green in the November general election. District 36 covers almost all of McDowell County, one of the southern West Virginia counties that has faced long-term challenges involving population loss, economic development, infrastructure and access to services. Jordan is challenging an incumbent who has represented the district since being appointed to the House in 2024. Publicly available information about Jordan’s professional background and specific campaign platform is limited. Her candidacy gives voters an alternative to the incumbent in a district that includes communities such as Big Sandy, Welch, Iaeger, War and Kimball.

“I believe the hospital should remain focused on serving the public interest, and any proposal involving privatization or major operational changes must be evaluated with extreme caution. Across the country, rural hospitals have struggled after ownership changes, service reductions, or closures. Our community cannot afford to gamble with access to healthcare.” (Katelynn Jordan Campaign Website)
“I am also concerned by reports that local officials and community stakeholders may not have been fully included in discussions about the hospital’s future. Decisions of this magnitude require transparency, accountability, and public input.” (Katelynn Jordan Campaign Website)
“Tell us about yourself and how you'd like to pitch in, and we'll be in touch.” (Katelynn Jordan Campaign Website)
