She founded MarisaMade, a local fine art and gift business that celebrates Appalachian culture. Her daughter has a rare genetic disorder, FOXG1 syndrome, which she says inspired her advocacy and grew out of personal experience as a parent navigating healthcare and education systems for her child. Combining her business background with community activism, she has advocated both locally and nationally for disability rights, rare disease research funding and public health protections. Marisa Jackson appears on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot for West Virginia House of Delegates District 58.

“I am here because my Grandparents pursued the American dream to build a life in the United States when they immigrated to West Virginia from Ecuador.” (Marisa Jackson Campaign Website)
“I am proud of my heritage and to be a lifelong West Virginian. I spent my childhood in Cross Lanes, graduated from Nitro High School and lived in multiple parts of our beautiful state (Huntington, Morgantown, Craigsville, Lewisburg, Parkersburg) while I pursued my BFA from Marshall University and my MBA from West Virginia University. My husband and I chose Saint Albans to raise our family.” (Marisa Jackson Campaign Website)
“As a mother of three, including two children with disabilities, I am a fierce advocate for those often overlooked by our systems. My son Maxwell was born with FOXG1 syndrome , a rare non-hereditary neurological condition. I have to fight for everything he needs, and in doing so, I have learned how to navigate a system full of barriers. West Virginia has the highest disability rate in the country, yet too many families are still fighting just to be heard. I am passionate about advocating for families with disabilities and for public health policies that protect vulnerable children.” (Marisa Jackson Campaign Website)

I've chosen to lead by example and to become more involved in helping others in the Kanawha Valley. District 58 is my home, and home is where I will make a difference!” (Walter Hall Campaign Website)
“As the District 58 representative, I will seek out and secure any available state and federal funds and bring them home to build stronger communities in Institute, West Dunbar, East Nitro, and Saint Albans.” (Walter Hall Campaign Website)
“Walter Hall is a leader, not a follower. In these uncertain times, Walt took initiative and spearheaded a summer Covid Vaccine Clinic in Saint Albans. In July, Walt sponsored and organized the first-annual Saint Albans Police Department Youth Safety Day, which enabled nearly 300 area youth to establish positive connections with our police.” (Walter Hall Campaign Website)
