Statements or votes that appear at odds on the same issue but are not a clear contradiction. Shown for transparency; not included in the change count.
Earlier (Vote, Sep 15, 2026): voted Nay House roll call 307, 119th Congress
Later (Statement, Sep 2026): “we need to end this war quickly because war is terrible and no one likes war.” Bridge Michigan, Oct 1, 2026
Why unclear: Voting against a congressional directive to remove U.S. forces is a different question from saying the war should end quickly; he says his position has been consistent.
Two House passage votes on the Laken Riley Act: the 2024 House bill (H.R. 7511) and the 2025 Senate-passed bill (S. 5), which added provisions letting states sue the federal government over immigration enforcement. The texts differ, so opposite votes would not be counted as a change.
Not counted as a change: the 2024 remark describes Michigan law after the 2022 ballot vote rather than stating a different personal position. A July 2026 recording reported by the Daily Beast was not independently verified for this page.
